Ogier celebrates trainee success with five new associates

Cayman Islands, Guernsey, Jersey

Five graduates of Ogier's tailored training programmes have been promoted to become associates of the firm. Holly Johnston, James Hewlett, Andrew Tautscher, Michael Ogilvy Watson, and Hugo Reid recently completed Ogier's articled clerk and solicitor training programmes and have now joined the law firm's teams in Cayman, Guernsey and Jersey.

In Cayman, Holly joins the Dispute Resolution team. In Guernsey, James joins the Banking and Finance team, and Andrew joins the Private Wealth team. And, in Jersey, Michael joins the Dispute Resolution team while Hugo joins the Corporate team.

Holly successfully completed Ogier's articled clerk programme in the Cayman Islands. Operating to the standards set by the Cayman Islands Attorney General and Legal Advisory Council, trainees rotate into contentious and non-contentious areas of the practice over 18 months.

James, Andrew, Michael, and Hugo successfully completed Ogier's two-year England and Wales solicitor training scheme in the Channel Islands. Regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority, trainees take on up to four seats, including time in litigation, as well as the Professional Skills Course and an experiential litigation course that includes a mock trial.

Ogier in the Channel Islands also offers a comprehensive training scheme tailored to the new Solicitors Qualifying Examination.

Global senior partner Rachael Reynolds KC said: "Huge congratulations to Holly, James, Andrew, Michael, and Hugo. At Ogier, we're proud to offer tailored training programmes across our jurisdictions aimed to develop home-grown talent. We recognise that the path to qualifying as a lawyer should be flexible and meet our trainee's needs and personal circumstances. The stream of high-quality associates we are able to welcome into our teams, and their subsequent career progression, is a real testament to the success of these schemes. Our trainees continue to qualify and become the associates, and ultimately leaders, of Ogier's future."
