Michael Evans

Michael is counsel in Ogier's Jersey Banking and Finance team. Michael combines strong technical advice with pragmatism and a no-nonsense approach to focus on what really matters to the client. Having also worked in knowledge management for a number of years, Michael is particularly keen on innovation and using legal technology to deliver efficiencies and the best possible outcome for the client. 

Background and experience

Michael has extensive experience advising banks and borrowers across a wide variety of financing transactions, with a particular specialism in leveraged finance, structured finance, real estate finance, security enforcement, restructuring and insolvency and Islamic financing structures.

Before re-joining Ogier in 2024, Michael trained at one of the leading global law firms in London where he qualified into the banking team in 2007, specialising in acquisition finance and restructuring. He has also worked in the banking and finance teams in two law firms in Dublin, before moving offshore in 2015. Michael has worked in knowledge management for a large offshore firm in the Cayman Islands, with a particular focus on innovation and document automation.

Michael is a graduate of the University of Cambridge and a member of the Law Societies of England and Wales, Ireland and Jersey and a member of the City of London Solicitors' Company.
