Lin Han 韩琳

Lin's practice primarily involves work across a range of issues for investment funds, with a particular focus on clients based in China, where she advises them primarily on the laws of the British Virgin Islands and the Cayman Islands.

Background and experience

Lin specialises in fund formation and capital raising, with experience in assisting PRC clients achieve their investment goals through innovative Cayman and BVI structures. Lin is part of Ogier's multi-disciplinary Private Equity team.

Lin worked at Davis Polk’s New York office for close to six years as an associate in the investment management group. Latterly, Lin was at Freshfields’ in Hong Kong from 2014 through late 2016 where she worked on Hong Kong regulatory and FCPA matters.

Lin holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in French Language and Literature from Nanjing University (1999), a Master of Arts degree (2002) and a M.Phil. degree (2004) in French and Romance Philology and JD degree (2007, Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar) from Columbia University. She also holds an LLM degree in International Trade and Investment Law at University of Amsterdam (2014, cum laude).

Lin contributes to industry journals on the subject of international investment law. She is the author of International Investment Law with Chinese Characteristics: Zooming in on China's BIT Practice, The American Review of International Arbitration, 2015/Vol.26 No.1. She has also contributed a chapter headed "ISDS Control Mechanisms (Annulment and Setting Aside)" to Handbook of International Investment Law and Policy, Chaisse J., Choukroune L., Jusoh S. (eds), Springer, 2020.

Lin is native in Mandarin and fluent in English, French and Italian.
