Carl Hey

Carl Hey is a senior associate working with the Jersey Banking and Finance team. He has broad experience across banking and finance matters with particular expertise in real estate finance and fund finance.

Background and experience

Before joining Ogier in January 2024, Carl Hey was an associate at Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP in London and was previously a senior associate at a global offshore law firm in the Cayman Islands and London.

Carl obtained a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and a Bachelor of Arts (Political Studies and History) from the University of Auckland, New Zealand and a Master of Science with Distinction (Global Finance & Banking) from King’s College London. He is admitted to practice as a barrister and solicitor in New Zealand, as an attorney in the Cayman Islands (non-practising) and as a registered associate in Bermuda (non-practising).

Before training as a lawyer, Carl served as a warfare officer in the Royal New Zealand Navy, eventually attaining the rank of lieutenant commander.
