Bertrand Géradin

Bertrand is the practice partner of Ogier's Luxembourg office is part of Ogier's multi-disiplinary Private Equity team and heads the corporate practice. He specialises in corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, private equity structures and transactions including management incentivisation, as well as group reorganisation. He also has significant experience in the setting up of investment vehicles.

Bertrand advises hedge funds, private equity, real estate and venture capital clients and multinational companies in connection with corporate and finance restructurings, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, establishment and structuring of international transactions. He specialises in downstream corporate advisory work and related financings. His achievements include working with CVC, RevCap, Parthena, Link and Maple Knoll Capital on numerous high profile acquisitions and disposals.

Bertrand's practice also encompasses restructuring and insolvency, creditor rights, insolvency and shareholder disputes.

Background and experience

Bertrand has more than 15 years’ experience with law firms in Luxembourg, London, Brussels and Philadelphia with a particular focus on Luxembourg-related transactions. He is a recommended lawyer in The Legal 500 and IFLR1000 directories.

Prior to joining Ogier, Bertrand was a partner of a global elite law firm in Luxembourg and worked for a magic-circle firm in Luxembourg and London.

Bertrand is a lecturer on civil law and corporate governance at the University of Luxembourg and regularly speaks at seminars in Luxembourg on a broad range of topics. He also has been a panel member at various conferences in Asia.

He graduated with an LL.M in ICT Law and Management from the University of Namur, having previously studied law at the University of Louvain-la-Neuve and University of Saint-Louis as well. He also obtained a Master’s degree in tax from the Solvay Business School.

Bertrant has experience working in Belgium, England and the United States. He is a member of the Luxembourg Bar and has been admitted as a Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England & Wales. He speaks French, English and has basic knowledge of Dutch.
