The strength of Ogier's cross-jurisdictional Digital, Blockchain and Fintech team has been recognised in the Chambers Offshore FinTech Guide 2022.

The guide, which identifies leading lawyers and other professionals in the global fintech industry, praises the multi-disciplinary team for its "thorough" approach in what is a "complicated" space.

The guide in particular highlights the work of Ogier's BVI fintech team, led by partner Michael Killourhy with senior associate David Mathews, in advising WOO Network on the creation, issue and sale of native WOO tokens using a BVI vehicle.

The WOO token is an ERC-20 utility token that brings together the various components of WOO Network’s DeFi and CeFi products and services and offers zero fee trading.

Singled out as a notable practitioner is partner Bradley Kruger, head of Ogier's Corporate team in the Cayman Islands, who is described as "responsive, commercial, intelligent and easy to deal with."

"By the end of Q3 2021, global fintech funding reached US$94.7billion, almost double the 2020 year total and we expect this level of growth to continue into 2022  We are also seeing the range and complexity of digital assets expanding, and an evolving legal and regulatory landscape," said Bradley.

"In the fintech space, we can assist with day-one structuring, operational, governance and regulatory matters, to capital raising and other corporate transactions, to exits by IPO, disposals or MBOs. We also understand the importance of protecting intellectual property and we can assist in this respect too."

Chambers FinTech identifies the leading payments, blockchain, cyber security and data protection specialists globally, and the rankings are based on thousands of in-depth research interviews.

Ogier's Digital, Blockchain and Fintech team has significant experience advising tech and digital start-ups, SMEs and multinational corporations in regard of BVI, Cayman Islands, Guernsey, Jersey and Luxembourg law, and has practitioners based across European, Asian and Caribbean time zones, offering clients a 24-hour service.
