Trusts and estates expert Deborah Barker Roye has been promoted to partner at Ogier.

Cayman-based, Deborah specialises in advising beneficiaries, trustees, executors, protectors and other fiduciaries on estate planning, risk management and dispute resolution matters, with a focus on high value, multi-jurisdictional trust structures and complex estates.

Global head of trusts disputes at Ogier, Rachael Reynolds KC, said: "Deborah is a talented expert within our Cayman Dispute Resolution and her promotion is thoroughly deserved.

"As a member of both the Dispute Resolution and Private Client and Trusts teams Deborah is unique in our Cayman team in being an expert in both the contentious and non-contentious sides of the practice, specialising in finding resolutions for complex issues which arise in Cayman, BVI and cross border Trust, Estates and wealth structuring matters."

Deborah features in the Private Client Global Elite Directory for 2024, a directory of the world's most respected lawyers advising Ultra High Net Worth clients, as recommended by peers in the industry.

As well as being part of Ogier's Trust Advisory Group specialising in contentious private wealth matters, Deborah's practice spans complex, high value, international commercial litigation, fraud, breach of duty and asset tracing including fund and investor disputes.

With an academic background, Deborah is the author of two leading practitioner text books on Cayman Islands Law; 'Civil Litigation in the Cayman Islands' and 'Criminal Litigation in the Cayman Islands', both of which are used extensively by Cayman Islands attorneys and the members of the local and visiting judiciary.

Deborah joined Ogier in 2017 from the Attorney General's Chambers within the Cayman Islands Government Portfolio of Legal Affairs. In her role as Deputy Director of Legal Studies and Head of the Cayman Islands Professional Practice (Bar) Course at the Truman Bodden Law School, Deborah has taught litigation and legal skills to students and legal trainees for more than 25 years and continues to do so on a pro bono basis.
