As part of the celebrations for Channel Islands Pride, critically acclaimed author Sarah Hagger-Holt visited secondary schools for workshops designed to get children excited about reading and writing their own stories.

Ogier partner Sandie Lyne said: "Ogier is proud to have made Sarah's participation with the schools possible. Ogier is dedicated to championing diversity and inclusion, and we find it incredibly inspiring when we can work together with local communities to help foster inclusivity and acceptance even further. It has been a pleasure for our local Diversity, Equality and Inclusion leaders to work with the Guille-Allès Library to honour Pride in a different way this year.

"We hope the children enjoyed their time with Sarah, who undoubtedly imparted her passion, creativity and expertise for creating inclusive storylines and love of reading. Hopefully the sessions will inspire some future local storytellers to pick up their pens and get writing!"

Sarah Hagger-Holt has written several popular books focusing on LGBTQ+ characters and diverse families. She met children in years 7 and 8 to talk about what it’s like to be a writer and the importance of representation in fiction.

Sarah said: “The books I write include LGBTQ+ characters and diverse families, as I believe it’s important for all of us to be able to see ourselves in the books we read. Exploring characters with different perspectives opens all of our eyes to new and interesting ways of seeing the world. And these are the stories that inspire me and the ones that I want to read!”
