Ogier's "stand-out" team in Luxembourg praised in Legal 500 EMEA 2023

Ogier has been described as having a "stand-out" team in Luxembourg in the latest Legal 500 EMEA Guide, which has praised the firm for its "high-quality, responsive and cost-effective advice".

According to client feedback, Luxembourg's Investment Funds team "provides an excellent service and has strong market knowledge" across the range of alternative fund structures and strategies, and is a "stand-out for its mixture of technical depth, prompt and clear communication, availability and general user friendliness".

From the team, head Anne-Gaëlle Delabye was described as having "an unusually good mixture of technical thoroughness, market awareness and availability to deliver and communicate advice at speed". The guide also notes Ogier Luxembourg Legal Services counsel Philippe Burgener and managing associate Milan Hauber as key lawyers in the team.

Ogier's Commercial, Corporate and Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) team was praised for its "detail-oriented and commercial" advice to private equity funds, in particular, on the Luxembourg structuring of its cross-border M&A mandates. Practice head Bertrand Geradin's team was noted as approachable, reactive and "very aware of the corporate marketplace.

The guide also said that clients "benefit from the firm's offshore lineage and offices in key offshore jurisdictions, as well as its ability to frame contractual terms with a mindset towards avoiding any potential litigation further down the line". The guide also noted partner Laurent Thailly and managing associate Sarah Verlende as key lawyers, describing the team as "friendly and easy people to deal with who put no barrier between lawyers and their clients, strict respect of the imposed deadlines which is vital in transactions".

The guide cited "astute recent hires" in Ogier's Luxembourg Banking, Finance and Capital Markets team for its success in continuing to gain market traction among lenders and sponsors. Practice head Jad Nader was described as "adept at handling the enforcement of assets in the context of restructuring mandates" highlighted. Counsel Nicolas Mille and Caleb Holder were noted as key lawyers with Caleb being recognised as providing "high quality, responsive and cost-effective advice".
