Recognition for Ogier Intellectual Property partner Sophie Peat's expertise on trade marks continues with her ranking as a World Trademark Review Global Leader for the first time.

Sophie, who leads Ogier's Intellectual Property team from its Cayman office, is listed as a global leader in private practice for the Caribbean.

The rankings

The World Trademark Review (WTR) brings together the world's foremost law firm and corporate trademark experts, along the wider community to benefit from their insight experience and perspectives.

The WTR Global Leaders rankings draw on the publication's research projects – the WTR 1000 and the WTR 300 – to identify the best of the best in trade mark practice. Researchers collate the highest ranked-individuals from the WTR 1000 guide and select and exclusive list of top-tier trade mark specialists Global leaders.

Sophie said: "I am delighted to have seen my recognition as a trade mark lawyer take another step to being a WTR Global Leader, which is a reflection of the expertise of the team at Ogier."

Sophie has now been ranked individually eight times by World Trademark Review, having first received the accolade of recommended individual in 2018. She was also named as one of only three "highly recommended" individuals in the Caribbean region by WTR in February 2024.

Ogier is also a recommended firm for pan-Caribbean trade marks in the WTR and is in the Top 10 Patent Firms Caribbean lists by The Patent Lawyer Magazine.

Industry leader

Sophie is a member of the International Trademark Association (INTA) and MARQUES. She serves on INTA's Country Guides and Trademark Office Practices Committee (Latin America and the Caribbean), and also on the Intellectual Property Working Group in the Cayman Islands at the invitation of the Minister for Financial Services and Commerce.
