Ogier's multi-disciplinary Restructuring and Corporate Recovery team is proud to sponsor the seventh annual INSOL Channel Islands seminar 2021, which is taking place on 14 September in St Helier, Jersey.
The one-day seminar presents an unrivalled opportunity for insolvency practitioners across Guernsey and Jersey to share expert insights and best practice.
The seminar will focus on both offshore and cross-border topics, including substance, the future of audit, and governmental adoption of new and emerging technologies.
Mathew Newman, Global Head of Restructuring and Corporate Recovery and Head of Dispute Resolution in Guernsey will co-chair the seminar alongside David Wilson of Oben Law.
Partner Alex Horsbrugh-Porter, who sat on the rules committee for Guernsey's new insolvency regime, will speak in a session examining the recent changes to Guernsey's insolvency legislation, with practical tips for UK practitioners who have substantial experience in the UK and other jurisdictions of the changes put in place in Guernsey, together with a look ahead to the changes which it is hoped will come into force in Jersey in the near future.
Mathew Newman said: "We anticipate a significant uptick in Q4 and beyond of insolvencies and restructurings stemming from the pandemic. Given these projected market shifts, we're pleased to once more team up with INSOL to provide a forum for insolvency and restructuring practitioners, lawyers and other professionals to explore the key challenges and legislation which will impact our practices over the coming months. The seminar promises to be extremely interesting with some excellent speakers, and we are honoured that both Sir Oliver Letwin and Hugo Rifkind have agreed to take part, alongside members of the judiciary from the UK, Guernsey and Jersey."
