Ogier remains the only firm with top-tier ranking across Cayman, Guernsey and Jersey in Chambers HNW

News

15 July 2022

Cayman Islands, Guernsey, Jersey

Ogier remains the only firm to achieve a tier-one ranking across Cayman, Guernsey and Jersey in the newly published independent legal directory Chambers HNW Guide.

The rankings come after a year of significant milestones for Ogier, including being named offshore firm of the year at this month's eprivateclient excellence awards, and cement Ogier's status as the firm of choice for both contentious and non-contentious private client work.

The Cayman team is "at the top of their game and rightly regarded as part of the elite", with team lead and tier one practitioner Rachael Reynolds QC "a star in the area of international trust litigation" and "exceptional…the best trusts lawyer on the island." Anthony Partridge, also a notable practitioner, is "an outstanding private client professional" whose focus on relationships "sets him apart".

The Guernsey team is praised as "an excellent team of individuals with an in-depth knowledge of their subject matter." Team lead and global head of Private Wealth Matt Guthrie is a tier one practitioner, "top of the class", with one client saying "if you have something complex in the private wealth domain in Guernsey, he is the first person on the list to call." Gavin Ferguson retains his top-tier ranking, and is described as a "top-quality lawyer who is very pragmatic and responsive". Notable practitioner Catherine Moore is "knowledgeable, approachable and friendly", while notable practitioner Chris Hards is "very bright and has a good tax background, and he is very good with clients."

Ogier is "the go-to firm on the island for Jersey private client expertise", with James Campbell, Josephine Howe and Katherine Neal all being marked out as notable practitioners. James is described as "very astute" with a "vast amount of knowledge and technical ability", while Josephine is "cool, calm and collected, and good with clients" and "never fails to deliver". Katherine is praised for her ability to "marry the practical requirements with the legal subtleties".

Global head of Private Wealth Matt Guthrie said: "We're very pleased to see the team's strength across the board recognised in the new Chambers HNW Guide. This has been another year of strong growth and performance across all of our jurisdictions, with the team continuing to go from strength to strength. These results are testament to the talent, dedication and client-centricity of our team."

Global head of trust disputes Rachael Reynolds said: "I'm delighted to see this recognition for the Trusts Advisory Group, which really demonstrates the strength of our team across our contentious and non-contentious offering. As we continue to grow and expand our capabilities, we never lose sight of the fact that our clients are looking for first-class legal advice that's also commercial, and for a human relationship with their advisers."
