Ogier Partner Simon Dinning and private wealth Counsel Katherine Neal are giving a presentation to law students from Texas A&M Law School at the Jersey Institute of Law this morning.
The students are in the Island as part of a course on international finance and investment with Dean Andrew Morriss and Professor William Magnuson.
Simon's presentation focuses on the role of international finance centres, foreign direct investment and the work of law firms such as Ogier.
Katherine's presentation will focus on private wealth and trusts work.
Simon, who worked in London and BVI before joining the Ogier partnership in 2008 and who now leads the corporate law teams across Ogier's six jurisdictions, said: "It's very exciting to be talking to students about the work that we do and to have the opportunity to explain the role that offshore lawyers play in international transactions.
"People and wealth are increasingly mobile, which makes corporate legal work increasingly global and means that our client base is geographically diverse, so the work being done here is absolutely relevant to US lawyers – in addition, with the global regulatory backdrop changing and developing all the time, this is a good opportunity to talk about the rules and regulations that we operate to."
