Ogier in Luxembourg once again praised for stand-out responsiveness and cost-effectiveness in Legal 500 EMEA

Ogier has received outstanding praise in the latest Legal 500 EMEA rankings across four core service lines – including a new ranking for the Tax team.

Tax

According to the guide, the newly ranked Tax team forms "a key part of the firm's ability to provide highly integrated advice to clients in the asset management space". The team works "seamlessly" with the Investment Funds team on fund setups, as well as with Corporate on the pursuant mergers and acquisitions.

Clients describe the team, which was founded in February 2023, as "quick to align internally and deliver practical solutions under time pressure".

In particular, practice head Aurélie Clementz and counsel Hadrien Brémon are both "recommended for their practical and commercial approach", with associate Muriel Jarosz named as another key lawyer.

Referencing one of the team's specific cases, Legal 500 highlights their stand-out legal and tax advice to MKC Munsbach Properties S.à r.l., managed by Maple Knoll Capital Ltd, on the refinancing and expansion of its loan facility for the E-Building in Munsbach in Luxembourg.

Banking

The rankings spotlight Ogier's "responsive and user-friendly" Banking team, which provides a "very cost-effective" service to a lender-focused client base on fund financing matters.

The team is led by the "knowledgeable and pragmatic" Jad Nader, and noted key lawyers include counsels Delphine Gomes, Constantin Iscru, Caleb Holder, senior associate Fabiana Popescu, associates Henrique Arcoverde, Lucas Nebout, Olga Sihoan and Brian Fortini, and legal consultant Manon Hillenbrand.

Clients praise Jad and Caleb for being "very knowledgeable and pragmatic operators" and Jad specifically for being "particularly strong in real estate insolvency, enforcement and restructuring".

Investment Funds

The "highly responsive and knowledgeable" Investment Funds team at Ogier is adept at advising stakeholders on issues across the spectrum of fund structures and strategies, particularly within the alternatives sector, according to Legal 500.

Co-led by partners Hervé Leclercq and Anne Gaëlle Delabye, the team has "the breadth to cover all aspects of private equity and corporate matters across a range of jurisdictions".

The guide also names dual Luxembourg and German qualified partner Milan Hauber, who heads Ogier's German Desk, as a key lawyer, alongside counsel Philippe Burgener, senior associate Amaury François and associates Arthur Mendegris, Jawad Bach, Maddalena Bonamini-Leitner and Laurianne Vessot.

Corporate

For commercial, corporate and M&A work, Ogier's team is "practical and client-friendly" while remaining "technically very strong". Clients also describe the team as "well organised, collaborative and efficient" with a "cost-effective service".

Head of the Corporate legal team in Luxembourg Bertrand Géradin has been lauded for his "excellent knowledge of Luxembourg corporate governance law and practice and a very wide network amongst senior board figures in Luxembourg, giving him a good perspective on best practice".
