The Ogier team in the Cayman Islands partnered with Meals on Wheels this week to prepare festive food parcels and spread holiday cheer.
Ogier's CSR committee in the jurisdiction donated non-perishable food and personal items to be packed and delivered to senior, homebound and disabled citizens in Cayman over the seasonal holidays. A team of Ogier volunteers unloaded a truck full of the purchased items, delivered by local warehouse retailer Cost.U.Less, and packed 225 boxes with much needed food essentials and seasonal treats.
Meals on Wheels provides an average of 350 free, hot, nutritious meals a day across all five districts in Grand Cayman to senior, homebound and disabled citizens, Monday to Friday, every week. Relying on around 130 volunteers, the service helps seniors maintain their independence by staying in their own home and provides social interaction to address the prominent issue of isolation. Ogier is proud to support Meals on Wheels with a team of over 30 volunteers who help with the daily food deliveries to people's homes.
Meals of Wheels' General Manager, Jennifer West, joined the Ogier helpers this week for their annual Christmas Groceries, she said: "We are extremely grateful for the year-round support that Ogier provides through its volunteers who deliver meals to seniors in George Town. The demand for Meals on Wheels services has grown significantly over the last few years. The Christmas Groceries initiative began with 75 bags and this year has grown to 225. These food boxes, brimming with much-needed items, are always a joy for our clients to receive at this seasonal time of giving. A huge thank you to the dedicated team at Ogier for this gift of groceries once again this year."
CSR committee member, Georgia Scott who led Ogier's team of "elves" said: "Meals on Wheels is such an important part of our community and Ogier is honoured to be able to support our seniors with Christmas groceries for another year. I am delighted that our commitment is growing in a meaningful and impactful way to an organisation at the forefront providing essential staples to our vulnerable seniors."
Thank you to the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Heritage's Intergenerational Hub, managed by the Youth Services Unit, for the use of their venue for our grocery packing, with special thanks to Minister Issaac Rankine.
Ogier's volunteers included: Michael Aquino, Tara Campbell, Camille Calvary, Samantha Conolly, Jessica Crawford, Candice De Coteau, Cindy Downing, Rebekah Gibson, Julie Harris, Gabriela Jackson, Jayde Johnson, Kaili Kappler, Anganee Lewis, James Macfee, Celina March, Ghita Moyle, Kendra Rankin, Kara Rankine, Ashleigh Robinson, Teneisha Robinson, Aaron Roye, Justin Savage, Marika Scotland, Richard Singleton, Lauren Tims, Kelley Verwey, Alexander West, and Melody Williams.
