International offshore law firm Ogier has strengthened its global Corporate team with the appointment of five new partners.

Florence Chan and Cecilia Li, based in Ogier's Hong Kong office, and Alexander Curry and Oliver (Olly) Richardson from the Jersey corporate team, have progressed through the firm's partner development programme, while Cynthia Anandajayasekeram rejoins the firm laterally, bringing more than a decade of top tier international law firm experience from the Cayman Islands, New York, Sydney and Melbourne.

"It's been a very busy year for the Corporate team across our jurisdictions. These exceptional lawyers bring unique talents, skills and experience to our global team of corporate partners. I am delighted that Florence, Cecilia, Alex, Oliver and Cynthia are joining our leadership team which will significantly enhance the delivery of expert legal advice to our clients," said global Head of Corporate Nathan Powell.

Ogier's Corporate team was recently named one of the top three offshore legal advisers for Asia-related SPACs in the Asia Business Law Journal's 2021 SPAC Super League, and achieved top tier rankings in the Legal 500 and Chambers UK. It has also been ranked among Luxembourg's top law firms in Leaders League 2022.

Florence Chan, who specialises in downstream corporate advisory – acquisitions, investments and exits - is part of Ogier's multi-disciplinary Private Equity team. Florence is also well experienced with SPAC listings in the US. Fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin, she qualified in Hong Kong, Australia and New Zealand, joining Ogier in 2012 to work on corporate finance transactions including initial public offerings, mergers and acquisitions and private equity. Florence was part of the team that advised the innovative and award-winning Taiwan Cement Corporation's privatisation of TCC International Holdings Limited, structured through a Cayman Islands scheme of arrangement, as well as acting in two award-winning deals in China: Huya's US$10bn merger with Douyu and Baidu's US$3.6bn acquisition of YY Live, both named Deals of the Year 2020 by the China Business Law Journal.

Cecilia Li has a broad corporate finance practice with particular expertise in using BVI and Cayman companies in capital markets transactions, mergers and acquisitions, private equity investments, corporate reorganisations and joint ventures. She also has extensive experience in banking and syndicated loan transactions, mortgage backed securities transactions and debt restructurings. As a native Mandarin speaker (also fluent in English and Cantonese), Cecilia regularly advises both international and Chinese clients across a broad range of corporate, fundraising and financing transactions. Her clients include listed companies, major Chinese state-owned enterprises, major investment banks, financial institutions and private equity houses.

Alexander Curry's corporate practice focuses on equity capital markets, cross border M&A and private equity (PE) transactions. He acts for a number of the world's leading PE houses and has particular experience in natural resources, real estate, healthcare and fintech sectors as well as providing Private Wealth and Family Office clients with structuring and investment advice.

Oliver Richardson is a Legal 500 Rising Star and Lawyer of the Year finalist, whose legal career started at Ogier as a bursary student, while at Oxford University, before he trained and practiced at Jones Day in London. Oliver advises many of the world's leading financial institutions and corporates on a range of high value and complex Jersey and BVI corporate and finance transactions.

Cynthia Anandajayasekeram's practice focuses on public and private mergers and acquisitions, downstream private equity transactions, non-contentious restructurings and corporate governance matters. While previously working at Ogier in the Cayman Islands, Cynthia advised on several high profile matters including Cayman National's response to the tender offer by Republic Bank to acquire up to 74.99% of its issued share capital – the first transaction of its kind in the jurisdiction.

Cynthia has extensive experience representing both corporate and private equity clients across a number of industries including such specialised industries as banking and financial services, asset management, real estate, oil and gas, media, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, logistics and aviation.
