Ogier advises on four China deals of the year

Four deals involving Ogier have been recognised in the China Business Law Journal Deals of the Year 2024.

The winning deals come from work done by Ogier's Corporate, Dispute Resolution and Banking and Finance teams. They include the following:

Ogier's Corporate team in Hong Kong advised on Chinese electric car brand Zeekr’s US$441 million listing on the NYSE - the biggest Chinese stock offering in the US in the past three years. Partners Nathan Powell and Rachel Huang led the team assisted by legal manager Chloe Yip.
The Restructuring and Insolvency team is acting as Cayman Islands counsel for an Ad Hoc group of bondholders regarding a restructuring of certain debt instruments totaling almost US$6.7 billion of offshore debt by way of parallel Schemes of Arrangement in the Cayman Islands and Hong Kong, with Chapter 15 recognition in the US. The deal involves a number of different tranches of debt and class issues. Partners Joanne Collett and David Nelson are leading the Ogier team.
Ogier acted as deal Cayman counsel for China Overseas Land & Investment Limited in connection with the update of its U.S.$4,000,000,000 guaranteed medium term note issued by China Overseas Finance (Cayman) VIII Limited. It is a notes issuance programme with complicated terms and conditions for different types of notes. Nathan Powell and Rachel Huang were again leading the team, with assistance from paralegals Josie Ma and Vicky Wu.
Ogier also advised Nam Tai Property on a corporate control dispute. BVI partner Nicholas Burkill led the team, assisted by partner Michael Killourhy and supported by Hong Kong partner Oliver Payne.
