Partner Sophie Peat, who spearheads Ogier's global Intellectual Property (IP) group, has been named an IP Star 2022, in addition to being recognised as a 'Recommended' lawyer by the World Trademark Review (WTR 1000), and ranked 'Up and Coming' in Chambers Global 2022.
Sophie joined Ogier in June this year, bringing more than a decade of top-tier international experience to her practice, which encompasses the clearance, prosecution, exploitation and enforcement of the full suite of IP rights, including brands and trademarks, copyright, industrial designs and patents, throughout the world.
In IP STARS, the leading specialist guide to IP law firms and practitioners worldwide, Sophie is named an IP Star for 2022 and listed as a seasoned expert in IP protection across the Caribbean and in offshore financial centres.
The WTR 1000 identifies the top trademark professionals in key jurisdictions around the globe. It has ranked Sophie 'Recommended' for 2022, commenting that "Sophie Peat is instrumental to the success of her clients. She has earned a well-deserved reputation and continues to handle routine and difficult trademark matters with excellent results."
In Chambers Global 2022, Sophie Peat is ranked as 'Up and Coming' and is described as "a rising lawyer who has quickly established a notable reputation for her IP work across the region."
Cayman Islands practice partner James Bergstrom said: "Sophie's reputation in this space is unrivalled and we're delighted her talent and expertise has been highlighted by these recent industry rankings."
Sophie, whose addition to the Ogier partnership brings it to 100-strong partners, has effectively and creatively managed the IP portfolios of some of the world’s leading companies across a wide variety of sectors.
Sophie also contributes to the legislative subcommittee advising the Cayman Islands government as to the desirability and effect of proposed legislation concerning Intellectual Property law modernisation and reform and played an integral role in the drafting of The Trade Marks Act, 2016 and accompanying regulations.
Her arrival comes amid continued strategic growth for the firm following Ogier's merger with Ogier Leman in Ireland. Find out more about Ogier's Intellectual Property (IP) group.
