Local Legal Services specialist Cline Glidden elected to The Cayman Islands Legal Practitioners Asso

News

13 August 2019

Cayman Islands

The Cayman Islands Legal Practitioners Association (CILPA) has elected Ogier Senior Associate Cline Glidden to its council.

CILPA is a new representative body formed by the merger of the Cayman Islands Law Society and the Caymanian Bar association. It is designated as the anti-money laundering supervisor for attorneys and will contribute to consultation in the legislative process.

Cline has been instrumental in the development of Ogier's Local Legal Services offering. He has established strong relationships with key clients of the firm, advising on mergers and acquisitions, real estate, property law, project development and employment and immigration. Well-known in the Cayman Islands as a former elected member of the Legislative Assembly, Cline is still involved in the local community through Ogier's charity commitments and now through his participation in the CILPA council.

Cline said: "I am very pleased to be elected to the council of the newly formed Cayman Islands Legal Practitioners Association. A clear majority of members (representing 80% of the attorneys in Cayman) voted in the election, giving the council a strong mandate.

"With CILPA's membership composed of individuals rather than firms, each person has a clear stake in the association, increasing its inclusivity and dynamism. I look forward to working alongside other legal practitioners on the council and the association more broadly to successfully represent our industry and continue to drive it forwards."
