Cross-jurisdictional strength of Ogier's Hong Kong offering recognised in new Legal 500

Excellent, commercial and responsive: the expertise of Ogier's service line leads in its 28-strong Hong Kong office has been noted in the new Legal 500 Asia-Pacific.

The directory's profile of Ogier in Hong Kong, which recently celebrated its tenth anniversary, also emphasises the office's cross-jurisdictional strength.

Ogier, which is the only Caribbean and Channel Island law firm with an office in Luxembourg, is noted for "servicing the growing demand for Luxembourg investment funds in Asia", as well as providing British Virgin Islands (BVI), Cayman, Guernsey and Jersey legal services to clients in the Asian time zone, working together with its Shanghai and Tokyo client services offices.

The Hong Kong team provides a "practical and responsive service" under the leadership of practice partner Nicholas Plowman, with the directory referencing a major deal Nicholas worked on establishing one of the first hedge funds under the new Cayman Islands Limited Liability Companies law.

Corporate head Nathan Powell is described as "excellent'" while head of Banking & Finance in Asia Anthony Oakes is "very commercial and helpful" and "has a great deal of experience in Asia Pacific and brings real value to bear in transactions where he is acting as offshore counsel".

The office's strength in Cayman and BVI law is underlined, and partner Caroline Bormans, who heads Ogier's Luxembourg desk in Hong Kong, is described as "particularly adept at servicing the growing demand for Luxembourg investment funds in Asia."
