Extension of date for filling a BVI annual financial return

The BVI Financial Services Commission (FSC) has announced an extension to the date of filing annual returns in BVI. This announcement was made through Industry Circular 44 of 2024.

The BVI Financial Services Commission’s announcement states:  

“Companies that were required by the Act to make their first (initial) filing of annual returns with their registered agent by 30th September 2024 are, by the Notice, granted a nine (9) month extension on the time by which to comply with the filing requirement for the first annual returns. The extension period expires on 30th June 2025 (the extension expiry date).” 

Companies who do not have a 31 December year-end date

This extension does not automatically apply to entities with a year-end date that is not 31 December. Therefore, companies with other year-end dates should take immediate steps to provide their annual return review or contact the FSC.  

If a company does not meet this requirement to file by the given date, the registered agent must notify the BVI FSC within 30 days of failure to file.
