Meet two new members of Ogier's Jersey Private Client and Trusts team

Ogier's Private Wealth team is a dedicated team of non-contentious trust lawyers, and now the largest in the island. The team provides advice and assistance to a wide range of professional trustees, intermediaries, family offices and private clients on all aspects of Jersey trusts, foundations and estate planning, together with all related company and commercial law issues. Two new members of the team talk about their roles and why they chose to join Ogier.

Why did you choose to specialise in Private Client and Trusts?
Most of our work involves advising trust companies in Jersey on anything from drafting a trust instrument for a new client, advising a professional trustee on their duties in connection with a proposed investment, or providing a legal opinion to allow a bank to lend funds to a trustee.

What attracted you to Ogier?
Ogier has a fantastic brand and a dynamic partnership. It is big on the use of technology to improve service levels. The delivery of legal services is changing rapidly and technology will play a key role here.

If you could go back in time to after graduating what advice would you give to yourself?
Work hard but find time to enjoy yourself and have some downtime. You can't work all the time.

Jersey has for many years now been a key international financial centre, with a thriving trust industry which continues to develop and grow - there are always new and engaging instructions to keep you on your toes.

What attracted you to Ogier?

Ogier has always enjoyed a tremendous standing in Jersey and the offshore legal world, so that in itself was a major draw in furthering my career. 

If you could go back in time to after graduating what advice would you give to yourself?

Simply believe in your abilities and make the most of every opportunity that comes your way.
