Working on the relocation of the JEP's team from Five Oaks back to town was a pleasure for Ogier's property law specialists. The JEP and Guiton Group have been a long-time client of Ogier's Local Legal Services team.
Ogier's Jonathan Hughes, Katharine Marshall and Sarah Parish were delighted to help the JEP by formalising the contract of assignment of the unexpired term of a lease of their new premises at 1st Floor, Le Gallais Chambers, Bath Street. This included liaising with the landlord's lawyers as well as the outgoing tenant's lawyers.
Mark Oliver, finance director of Jersey Evening Post, said: ‘We are delighted with our new home. The move was the culmination of months of planning and execution. It was a huge team push and I cannot praise our employees highly enough for their immense efforts in getting us from Five Oaks to Bath Street, while also having to focus on publishing a daily newspaper six days a week. Pressing pause is not an option in our industry.
‘Of course, we were assisted by numerous other businesses and without their help this move would not have gone so smoothly. On a personal level, I am grateful for the calm expertise of the team at Ogier and, in particular, managing associate Katharine Marshall, who guided us expertly through all the legal aspects of the lease assignment.’
With attention turning to the JEP's previous site at Five Oaks, Katharine has also been appointed to lead the legal team, alongside senior conveyancer at Ogier Tim Bechelet acting on the sale, once a buyer is identified and terms agreed.
