Local businesses are the engine room of the Channel Islands’ economy.
With 13 international offices and a diverse practice, most of our work is for international organisations in the financial services sector. But our heart is in the Channel Islands and we’ve never taken our focus away from the local market.
Whether it’s a family business, an entrepreneurial start-up or the local arm of a larger operation, what businesses need to thrive in an ever-changing economy are trusted advisors who understand how to take advantage of opportunity, manage challenges and mitigate risk.

We regularly assist clients in Jersey and Guernsey who are buying or selling a business, entering into a joint venture, or reorganising their existing structure.
We also provide advice on the day to day corporate and commercial issues that arise for businesses operating in the Islands, from financing and corporate governance issues to terms of business and commercial contracts.
We advise on all aspects of competition law in Jersey and Guernsey, not only where companies and businesses are being bought and sold but also where issues arise in relation to potentially anticompetitive arrangements or the abuse of a dominant position.
We advise and represent clients in a wide range of contentious matters in our jurisdictions. These can range from company commercial disputes through to property, contentious wills and trusts and financial claims, including those involving insolvency proceedings. Our advocates appear before the Royal Court regularly and we are also experienced in alternative forms of resolution such as mediation, arbitration and expert determination. Our Dispute Resolution team is equally renowned for its work offering guidance and support to clients in relation to contentious regulatory matters.
We provide a full range of contentious and non-contentious employment law advice which includes guidance for HR teams on employment law, including legal developments across the Channel Islands. This includes advice on work and housing regulations and immigration issues, as well as on claims (or potential claims) around employee health and safety and fatal accidents.
We advise individuals, intermediaries and corporate trustees on Guernsey and Jersey trust law and the right structures for individuals and families.
Estate planning includes wills and will trusts for local residents. Whether the wealth structure is established for succession, asset protection, tax efficiency, family governance or confidentiality, our team of lawyers deliver a discreet and professional service that robustly meets your objectives.

Ogier's new lasting power of attorney questionnaire enables you, in your own space and time, to put together all of the information needed for us to draft lasting powers of attorney for you. Your answers to our questionnaire will be put into the required legal format and reviewed by our team before sending this to you so that you can make sure that the lasting powers of attorney reflect your wishes. We will then arrange a meeting at our offices where you will be able to sign your lasting powers of attorney before registering your lasting powers of attorney at the Greffe.
Our team has strong expertise in all local elements of planning, construction and environmental law, including health and safety requirements. We are regularly called on to give advice to developers and landowners, providing a clear, responsive and commercially minded service that enables clients to take advantage of opportunities and mitigate risks.
Our full-service Jersey and Guernsey property law teams are well known for executing some of the largest and most complex commercial property transactions with accuracy and speed. We provide a responsive, constructive and commercially aware client service for large and small businesses.
We work for local landlords, tenants, developers and financiers as well as institutional investors of international repute. We also handle a wide range of local residential transactions ranging from the purchase and sale of the most valuable and prestigious properties in the islands to flats and starter homes. Our residential property team is highly recommended by local agents, banks and the people we have helped to buy, sell and finance their property.
We help clients meet regulatory requirements when setting up and undertaking businesses in the islands. Our highly regarded local expertise, together with our long established and trusted reputation, enables us to give clients pragmatic and commercial regulatory advice.
An increasing number of businesses, their leading individuals and families are relocating to the Channel Islands, citing business friendly environments and quality of lifestyles as the motivating factors as well as being tax advantageous.
Choosing a jurisdiction that is to become your home is about finding somewhere that works for your wealth but, first and foremost, works for you and your family too.

Through our Trusts Advisory Group we offer an integrated contentious and non-contentious trusts advisory service. Our contentious trusts team can also help to resolve disputes concerning trusts and foundations, should the need arise.
