Ogier team among top global private wealth and trust lawyers

News

16 January 2017

Guernsey, Hong Kong, Jersey

Twelve Ogier lawyers have been recognised in the Citywealth Leaders List that marks the top advisers in the global private wealth and trust sector.

The list, which is independently compiled from peer feedback, recognises lawyers from Ogier's Cayman, Guernsey, Jersey and Hong Kong teams.

Global Managing Partner Edward Mackereth, named as one of the top ten contentious trusts lawyers for the UK and crown dependencies, is described as having a unique ability to "provide sound practical advice that ranges from the simple, to the most complex of trust disputes".

In the Leading Lawyers section, Global Head of Private Client and Trusts Sally Edwards is described as "the guru of the Jersey trust world" while Guernsey Practice Partner Marcus Leese is described as "one of the pre-eminent private client lawyers in Guernsey" and recognition for Steve Meiklejohn.

There is also praise in the guide for Jonathan Hughes as the first stop for HNWs relocating to the Channel Islands, for Lara Mardell's holistic approach to trust law advice, and for Katherine Neal's excellent technical advice.

Sally said: "It's hugely rewarding to see so many of our global team recognised in this way – and for a firm that prides itself on delivering advice that gets to the point and reducing complexity, it's also pleasing to see that this has been reflected in the client feedback quoted in the guide."

In 2016, Ogier was named the Offshore Law Firm of the Year by Chambers Europe, Hedgeweek Global Awards and the Alpha Awards, following up on similar awards from The Lawyer and STEP the previous year.

The firm also won awards for Best Rebranding Campaign, High Yield Deal of the Year and Caribbean Law Firm of the Year during the last 12 months.
